What kinds of fence do you build?
Wood privacy (cedar and treated pine), chain link (galvanised and black vinyl-coated), and vinyl privacy and picket. Plus gates, from a single walk gate to a double drive gate or an ornamental entrance. Residential and commercial.
Do you do the landscaping too, or just the fence?
Both. Installing a fence tears up a yard, so we grade and level, lay sod or seed, haul off the spoil, and put in mulch, edging and planting beds along the line. One crew for the fence and the ground it stands in.
Do you really call 811 before you dig?
Every time. In Iowa, calling Iowa One Call (811) before digging a new post is the law under Iowa Code Chapter 480, with two business days’ notice, because gas, power and fibre lines run through yards. Digging blind risks your safety, your utilities and a fine up to $20,000. We make the call first.
How deep do you set the posts?
About two feet deep and locked in concrete. For the most hold against frost heave we can drive (pound) posts deeper still, below central Iowa’s frost line. Setting posts deep and concreting them properly is the single biggest reason a fence stays straight.
My old fence is leaning, do I need a whole new one?
Not always. Often a few heaved or rotted posts, or a storm-damaged section, can be repaired for a fraction of a new fence. We will tell you honestly when a repair makes sense and when a fence is genuinely past it, rather than selling you a replacement either way.
Do I need a permit for a fence?
It depends on your city and where the fence sits. Many Iowa towns do not require a building permit for a residential fence but still set rules on height (often lower in a front yard than a back yard) and on corner-lot sight lines. We build to your local code and can point you to the rules for your property.
